Cervecas or Beer is a loved beverage all over the world. In Mexico there are many types of beer from light to dark but there are two main breweries,Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma and Grupo Modelo. Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma is an old general beverage assosiation with roots dating back to 1890. This company provides Mexicans with beers like Tecate, Sol, Dos Equis, Carta Blanca, Superior, Indio, Bohemia and Noche Buena. Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma is the major international brewer of Mexico and is own by FEMSA.

Grupo Modelo is another major brewer of Mexican beer and currently owns 63% of the Mexican beer market. Grupo Modelo produces beers such as Corona, Corona light, Negra Modelo, Modelo Especial, Modelo Light, and Pacífico. The most Famous of these beers is Corona Extra which is the top selling beer in Mexico and one of the top five selling beers world wide in over 150 different countries.

The beer that is in Mexico toady was only produced after the Spanish conquest. Beer drunk in the pre -Hispanic era of Mexico was very different but did exist. This drink consisted of fermented grain (often corn) to form the alcoholic beverages. These types of drinks were around a long time before the Europeans introduced their style of modern day beer. Along with Pulque, beer to the Aztecs and Mayans was a festivity drink and one for serious matters because of how long it takes to make the drink.
